Michael D. Obrochta, CPA

Partner-in-Charge of Quality Control

Area of Expertise:

Michael devotes a substantial portion of his practice to helping commercial real estate companies. He is known for his aggressive tax planning for major real estate developers and often works with them to maximize tax advantages by providing cost analysis reports to substantiate aggressive write-offs. Mike also works closely with dotcom entrepreneurs, manufacturers and distributors helping them to comply with all financial reporting requirements and design accounting systems, respectively. As a result, he is well versed in issues of burn rates, inventory, gross margin, costs, and other financial issues which are crucial to the growth of a business. Finally, Michael has gained an expertise in the family ownership and entrepreneurial aspects of closely held businesses through years of work with their financial processes.

In addition to his client responsibilities, Michael is also a member of the Firm's Quality Control Committee. In that capacity he is routinely consulted on issues involving the application of GAAP and GAAS as well as performing "First Partner" and pre-issuance reviews of the Firm's assurance engagements.

Background:

Michael was employed by a local accounting firm for five years before joining Friedman, Goldberg, Mintz & Kallergis, LLC in 1996. His move to FGMK was motivated by a desire to work for a more progressive firm. Michael has received frequent advancements within the firm, the most recent being his promotion to Partner Manager in 2003.
